1. Features & Tools

ComTekk SINAD is a unique, versatile software product designed for radio service, testing, alignment and performance verification.

Utilizing the computer's default sound device, receiver audio is analyzed using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques which yield very accurate, reliable measurements.

The following direct measurements can be made with ComTekk SINAD :

A built-in smoothing filter slows meter response for better readability.

Accuracy will depend on some degree on the quality of the sound device used. Some older computers have very low-end embedded chipsets and may cause unstable or erroneous readings. The THD measurement for example, will obviously include that of the sound device in use.

NOTE: ComTekk SINAD is NOT intended or designed for use with high-fidelity equipment. A minimum frequency response of 20Hz~20KHz is required for useful HiFi measurements.

1kHz Tone Generator :

A built-in tone generator is provided as a convenience if needed for the RF signal source. Output is sent to the computer's speaker or headphone jack. Playback device can be selected from Settings.

Adjustable Averaging:

Measurements can be averaged by selecting the number of samples from the Settings screen. This is helpful for reducing the number of values logged and provides an averaged total instead of an instantaneous sample. While the analog meter will always show the current value, a numeric representation of the averaged value is displayed just below the meter along with the total time period of the averaged samples.

Data Logging:

When enabled, averaged values values are continuously written to a CSV text file with a timestamp and GPS location data if enabled and available.

GPS Location:

Windows Location Sensor data can be logged along with each measured sample, provided the computer has a GPS connected and enabled.

TCP Server:

Using simple commands, SINAD Pro can be fully controlled over a network or the Internet (port forwarding must be set up in your router). Data points are sent to the client computer. The API is available upon request.

3. Indirect measurements

Indirect measurements are those which can be derived from direct readings, whether through calculation or by changing the input or test conditions.

Several additional "indirect" receiver performance measurements may be determined using SINAD readings:
